Assessment - Organisation Performance
Because so many organisations are in competition for scarce resources in the form of customers, suppliers, investors and best staff members, the only way for the people in those scarce resources to select between organisations is to have ways to compare them. Once an organisation has been chosen, then the people in those groups become stakeholders, and have a continuing need to know how the organisation is going.
However, each stakeholder group is interested in a different view of performance, so the organisation has to cater to each need. Each view will require a different kind of report with a unique focus designed to appeal to the specific group of readers.
The there’s the view of performance that the organisation itself wants. After all, the organisation is an entity with a life of its own. Sure - it’s dependent on stakeholders, but it also has a drive for itself that is above its concern for stakeholders.
