Causes of Problems

A look at the [Go Forward To:] menu items for this page says it all. The leading cause has to be leadership, since the ‘buck stops here’. In this case, we place the importance of leadership skills and practices across the organisation to include CEO, Executive, managers and supervisors. The extent of responsibility for ensuring high quality of leadership escalates up the hierarchy.
Stress is an important problem and is treated in depth in other parts of this site, but it is worthwhile to link stress to leadership as a cause. It is quite consistently reported in research that the most important contributor to stress or to support against stress, is the relationship each person has with his or her immediate boss. The most important component of that relationship is the quality of communication - in both content and conduct - in both directions.
The easiest way to work on those things that might become causes is to be methodical - find out what needs addressing to improve both the organisation performance and the well-being of its members
