Organisation Communication
This page is being rewritten
Poor communication quality will almost always be accompanied by poor organisation climate, with either one contributing to the other. As a symptom it has a broad reach and is inevitably ‘felt’ by the organisation as well as felt by the people within. Poor communication is not a problem, but a symptom - like body temperature is a symptom of so many health problems in humans.
Unlike human temperature, communication quality will not seek a healthy equilibrium but instead keep going as is or even worsen. To change communication patterns and quality requires a concerted effort.
Just like temperature - communication quality needs to be measured. You can put your hand to your forehead, but unless you measure it and look for other symptoms, you can make no diagnosis.
Poor communication is central to many problems and is therefore a sensible place to begin when improving organisational performances.
It’s a skill thing.
In the meantime, consider looking at the following background material.
