Help with
Organisational Climate

Even if you have never thought about the ‘climate’ in your organisation – there is one – and it is the result of past decisions, current perceptions and the whole gamut of workplace interactions, both formal and informal, ever since the organisation began.  If you want to influence that climate – to achieve an environment that is supportive of the organisation’s aims and objectives and in turn supports the people working in the organisation, then some kind of purposeful intervention is required.

Organisations frequently commission a survey to assess climate, and that’s a start, but even a survey is in fact an intervention, and if there is no planned follow-up, it can do more harm than good.

So where to start?

How Deltapoint can help

The King Hit Workshop on Strategic Climate Planning is a great place to start - especially for your executive group or planning committee if it is engaging with the idea of planning for the environment you want.  This introductory workshop builds on empirical research into organisational climate and combines theory with examples of national and international good practice.  The workshop is designed to support the development of an action plan to start the Strategic Climate Planning process in your organisation.  The Workshop can be facilitated in your own training room.

Through collaborative Climate Assessment and Review – we can activate a Climate Review Project in your organisation.  This project approach means we work with you in a collaborative process through a number of steps.

First, we work with nominated focus groups to develop and test an appropriate survey instrument.  Next, we use an open and transparent process to gain involvement and win the trust of organisation members in order to conduct the survey and get maximum quantity and quantity valid data.  In keeping that trust, we will maintain confidentiality by processing the data and provide an initial analysis in such a way as to preserve the anonymity of the survey participants.

Taking that initial analysis back to the organisation members, we facilitate a process of interpretation and validation so you will develop a series of recommended actions at organisational, departmental, and group/team levels to address issues raised in the survey results.

We then assist you in developing a complete Action Plan with measurable strategies.  The Action Plan can be implemented and reviewed as a means to achieving the desired climate for change – improving ‘the way we do things around here’.

In engaging with a Climate Review Project, it is important for the Executive Group to understand that changing climate will mean behavioural change – at all levels in the organisation.
