In our earlier years, we suffered like most organisational members, from consultancy arrangements where ‘off-the-shelf’ solutions have been administered to the organisation with little recognition that the solution is being applied to real people.

(1) we work with you in a partnership arrangement mode – not administering solutions. Instead, together we craft workable processes and plans for action that fit your particular needs and acknowledge and build on the skills and experience held within your organisation.

(2) we use tested and effective adult learning principles – see How Adults Learn in our Resources section of this website. Briefly, using these principles in our work with your people means that:

  • We have a better understanding of how learning happens and so how to structure development programs and workshops to facilitate learning.
  • We have a better chance of approaching learning and development in a way that gives results – and is satisfying to the participants.
  • We have the resources to continuously improve the effectiveness of our development programs and workshops
  • We have the incentive – and resources - to continuously improve our own learning
  • We have a better understanding of how to improve the likelihood of completion of a program of learning and development

We are uniquely placed to apply the combination of teaching (information and skills delivery) with the psychology of learning and motivation (information and skill uptake).

Ian Johnson, one of Deltapoint’s principals, is a registered psychologist, with a professional focus on organisational conversation, learning and performance. Deltapoint’s other principal, Lesley Johnson, is a qualified teacher, trainer and mediator.

(3) people are more likely to gain transferable skills when they learn with their own colleagues and apply their learning directly to the organisational problems and issues they deal with each day. Our workshops, development programs and collaborative interventions are offered at your workplace, either in person or through videoconferencing to your training room or board room.

(4) people learn better when they are fully engaged, challenged, and when the program is interactive - and when they have fun.
